Wavelengths beyond about 700 nanometers are invisible to the human eye, it's normal to not see any light from the LEDs labeled in this range.
This is by design as near infrared (NIR) light is the frequency range that penetrates deepest into the tissue to do their job.
One way to verify complete function is using an inexpensive wall power meter like the "kill-a-watt" device, you should see around 200W +-10W of power draw.

"I previously wrote a review about the mini expressing that its so powerful it will burn you. I then realized a couple days later my intent might not be clear. So let me clarify, this thing is very powerful. I register between 400 and 500 mW with my hoppocolor pro at 3 to 6 inches. If you understand what power that is then you will see what I meant by this light will burn you. It was just a testament to the deep heat that penetrates in the 800 nm and up range. The light didnt ever actually burn me as in getting sunburned or causing pain. Due to the power on this light, I definitely dont recommend leaving the light in one spot for too long, but the comfortable warmth will let you know when its time to move the light. Its honestly a better photobiomodulation device than my full body panels from another well known company that claims they have the most powerful production lights in the game. Its just not true, they need to stop saying that. Anyways I can only imagine how awesome the full size ironforge is if the mini has me this impressed. Hell of a job Chroma. My sky portal light is supposed to show up today. Im excited for that after seeing the quality put into the ironforge mini. Its just great to see an American company not cutting corners and only using premium internals. "I bought the mini because it seemed smaller and easier to handle than the regular Ironforge. And I have to say it did not disappoint. I keep the case in the living room and use it at night once I sit on the couch. I feel it helps with my basal joint arthritis and it helps my husband with his shoulder issues. I use the mini more than the regular Ironforge (which I mainly use on my hips) even though the regular covers more surface at once, it is more cumbersome to use. I am very happy with the mini and would buy again for sure"
"I have chronic knee and elbow pain and have previously used other IR/NIR devices. I decided to purchase the Ironforge Mini because I wanted to try a more powerful device that fits comfortably in my hands and is portable for travel. After 1 1/2 weeks of nightly 15-minute use, I noticed that my knees no longer ached after workouts and dance classes. Wow! My elbow still hurts, but the pain is less intense. I've also noticed an improvement in other parts of my body that are chronically tight due to nerve restriction and compression.
