Lighting companies love to slap the words “flicker-free” or “flickerless” on their products. But most of them are still using PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) dimming... they just crank up the frequency and hope you won’t notice.
Your brain notices.
PWM is a way to dim LEDs by flashing them on and off extremely fast. If the frequency is high enough (often 20kHz+), you won’t consciously see the flicker, but your brain and body still register it. Some people feel it as eye strain, fatigue, or headaches. Most just feel “off” without knowing why.
Manufacturers do this for two reasons, first, because they haven't thought about it, and didn't invesitgate further than their supplier telling them "flickerless" seconds, because it’s slightly cheaper than doing it right and lets them claim “flicker-free” while still using basic circuits that rapidly switch LEDs on and off. It’s cheap, dishonest, and it backfires.
What We Do Instead: Constant Current Reduction (CCR)
The Skylight NEVER flashes.
We use true constant current dimming, meaning the LEDs stay on continuously and smoothly dim down without strobing.
This means no phantom eye strain, no subconscious stress, no “off” feeling. Just a pure, steady fountain of photons.
If your light dims by flickering, it’s not high-end. It’s a shortcut.
The Skylight is engineered to respect human biology, not lie to your face.
